We are excited to introduce the new Culture and Citizenship in Québec (CCQ) program, starting in the 2024-25 school year. This program will be available for both elementary and secondary students, replacing the current Ethics and Religious Culture program (ERC).
The CCQ program offers our students wonderful opportunities to think critically, reflect ethically, and engage in meaningful discussions. It helps them understand the culture and society of Québec. Elementary students will begin by exploring their immediate surroundings, such as their relationships, daily rituals, and celebrations. As they progress, they will learn about broader cultural topics like stereotypes, democratic experiences, and digital spaces. In secondary school, the focus will include ethics, citizenship, and sociology.
Additionally, the CCQ program will be the primary method for delivering sexuality health education, ensuring it is taught in an age-appropriate, comprehensive, and inclusive manner. Rest assured, this is not new content but an incorporation and enhancement of the existing program to better support our students’ learning and development.
