At GPI daycare this month, the children all participated in a heartwarming project of mason jar recipes for charity.
The initiative began with a simple goal: to instill empathy and teach about the caring attribute of IB program all while providing practical support to mothers facing challenges.
The children, guided by their educators, carefully layered ingredients for recipes like cookie mixes, banana breads, hearty soups and pastas into mason jars. Each jar was thoughtfully assembled, complete with colorful ribbons and handwritten tags offering kind messages of encouragement.
The children took great pride in layering the varied ingredients into the jars, learning about the importance of attention to detail and also about teamwork.
Throughout the project, the educators emphasised the impact these jars would have on young mothers, explaining how small acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day. Printed photographs depicting the idea of giving and sharing were shown to the children, along with group discussions in order to deepen the children’s understanding of caring.
Once the jars were completed, they were donated to a local organization supporting young mothers in need called “L’Envol”.
This project not only brightens the lives of the recipients but also leaves a lasting impression on the children, teaching them that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life.
Congratulations to Marie-Claude and her team on this wonderful project!
