The Quebec government’s Cyber Defense Operational Centre (COCD) sent us a document proposing minimum standards to be applied in our organizations. These rules take into account government guidelines and industry best practices in the security of information. It was certain types of issues expressed by resources working in information technology, as well as concerns raised by parents about the strength of passwords, that prompted the preparation of this document.
It is important to note that the document does not take into account all of the components of our network, such as the Internet and the technological tools lent by the school board. Therefore, we ask parents and students who have technological tools at home (computers, laptops, tablets) belonging to the school board not to change their password from home in order to avoid technical & synchronization problems. Passwords can be changed when students return to school in person within the Riverside School Board network.
